
Chef Alejandro Cordero Garcia knew of his interest in food at an early age. Born into a family of twelve children in Guerrero Mexico, shared duties in the kitchen plus the family baking and coffee businesses were expected from all. While still in his teens, Alex elected to attend culinary school and then began his hospitality career in four-star restaurants in Mexico City, training in all areas under Master Chefs. In the late 1990s, Chef Alex was contracted by Princess Cruise Lines to enter the corporation’s culinary management training program. For over nine years Alejandro worked and trained with international chefs, traveling worldwide and experiencing the cuisines from many cultures.
In 2006 Chef Alex elected to return to his home country of Mexico and settled in beautiful Puerto Vallarta. Moving initially into Vallarta’s restaurant scene, Alejandro began to receive requests from visitors for private chef services in client’s homes and condominiums, and in 2007 No Small Affair, Intimate Caterers was born. Chef Alex now proudly continues his culinary journey with Bistro Balsamar, fusing international cuisines with his love of regional Mexican cooking. From his mother’s recipe of an incredible herb-infused green mole to pastas and seafood, at Bistro Balsamar you will find the freshest of ingredients married to provide incredible tastes in an intimate and relaxed setting.
